Aly Storey – Designer Maker
I’m a designer maker specialising in printmaking for textiles, working from the Pink House Studio in Wiltshire. Responding to my own briefs or commissions, I use my unique, original, hand printed textile designs to make products for the home and fashion accessories. Some of my textile designs will be on display at Caerbladon from 2 May onwards, all available to buy.
The studio contains a press and a large table where I print onto fabrics. I have a stack of screens which get changed from time to time. Pink House Studio is where creative activity and collaborations happen. It is where I print most of my textile products and monoprints and is a fulltime workspace for all the component parts of my small business including design, printing, making, product photography, graphics, marketing and workshops.
Inspiration often comes from witnessing the drama and seasonal changes of the natural environment around where I live. I creatively explore natural forms and the spaces between them. I love experimenting with the infinite possibilities of colour. It is this process of visual and tactile interrogation that informs my designs, which are interwoven with the informality of nature and spontaneity of the maker’s hand.
