Rooted in the tradition of the Russian school of academic painting and drawing, Dasha Aksyuta finds inspiration in the works of artists worldwide. Her work, created with gold leaf and oil paints, features simple yet striking floral compositions.
Jacqueline Hammond is a Gloucester artist working primarily in oils, and a keen sketcher whose work is often rooted in observations of the local landscape and plants. She is drawn to the play of light, colour and pattern, her paintings often capturing a sense of time and season, as she seeks to express the feeling of being within nature in a moment in time.
Alexandra Hudd is an artist whose work captures the essence of the places that inspire her. Her semi-abstract landscapes in acrylics and mixed media, respond to the quiet beauty of the land and sea. Drawing inspiration from walking the Wales Coast Path and a lifetime spent living rurally in Wiltshire, Alex works instinctively to invite the viewer into imagined spaces that feel both peaceful and expansive. Each piece offers a tactile connection to the shifting atmospheres of natural surroundings, inviting the audience to pause and breathe.
Born in Wiltshire in 1971, Matt Underwood’s curiosity about natural history led him to drawing and keeping sketchbooks from an early age. He went on to study art and art history at Salisbury College of Art and then to Carmarthenshire College of Art to study wildlife illustration. His woodblock prints are widely collected for their bold colours and strong composition. Matt finds that it is often a tiny piece of information, which may trigger an idea for a work – such as seeing an animal or bird in an unusual location, or immersed in its natural habitat.
