Presented by Caerbladon in partnership with WOMAD 2022 and Ffotogallery, More Than a Number is an exhibition taking place in three Malmesbury venues: the Library, Abbey and Caerbladon’s gallery on Market Cross. Curated by British-Kenyan artist Cynthia Sitei, from Ffotogallery Wales, the exhibition examines an Africa caught between modernity and tradition and explores how different cultures express themselves through images.

More Than a Number invites the audience to engage with the exceptional and thought-provoking work of 12 photographers from ten African countries. It encourages us to look deeply and clearly into the face of the individual in front of you and engage in a conversation. As Elbert Hubbard wrote, “If men could only know each other, they would neither idolise nor hate”.

 The exhibition was originated by Ffotogallery for Diffusion: Wales International Festival 2021.
